Kate Micucci, a 43-year-old painter and actress best known for her role as Lucy on the "Big Bang Theory;" took to the video-sharing app from the hospital to announce — she had lung cancer — but she got it removed.

"They caught it really early," said Micucci, who grew up in Jersey City and Nazareth, PA.

"It’s pretty weird because I’ve never smoked a cigarette in my life. It was a surprise but I guess it happens.

Micucci's Pennsylvania ties could be a factor in her non-smoking-related lung cancer as "approximately 40 percent of Pennsylvania homes have radon levels above Environmental Protection Agency's action guideline of 4 picocuries per liter," that is according to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.

The US Environmental Protection Agency's website noted that radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer, after smoking and it causes 21,000 lung cancer deaths each year, adding that it is the leading environmental cause of any cancer.

But Micucci is lucky, "they caught it early. They got it out. I'm all good but it's been a little bit of a trip."

Micucci, who graduated from Nazareth Area High School in 1998, hopes to be back to painting soon.
